A cat of extraordinary abilities, HRH convinced her human Debra to buy her a pirate ship. "Mistress, I shall sail the oceans and seek for you a Rare One worthy of your love" purred HRH with a sly wink of her eye.
HRH promptly hired an all female crew (yeah, I'll paint them) and set sail for Canada, a country she long desired to have in her possession as she'd heard the maple syrup there was to "die for".
Much to her dismay, HRH discovered that Canada already had a King. Orlin, the Eternal King of Canada ruled the land that she desired.
"Not half bad to look at" thought HRH when she saw him. And since handsome strongly correlates with stupid, HRH thought she could master him in time.
The story or Orlin and HRH continues in both my short story "Suzie Swagger and the Zombie Apocalypse" and "The Wyrm of Connemara"
HRH and Orlin are from Dark Sword Miniatures and are 32mm sculpts by Dave Summers.
TODAY I AM AUTOPOSTING. I may be sleeping when this publishes but when I wake up, I'll be around.
Well it's Monday folks and if you're Irish, you're already picturing all the things that could go wrong before Friday. So today, hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I know I will.

That's a surprisingly thin king. You'd think he be fatter from eating all our maple syrup.
ReplyDeleteSomeone tried to break into your maple reserves recently. I read that on the news. It was me, but don't tell anyone.
DeleteHigh Seas Cat??? I imagine he' s able to swim... :-P
ReplyDeleteMarzio.
She has boobies.....she floats!
DeleteObviously...I would had to think it...She' s naturally "equipped" ;-)
Deletelovely shading on the cloaks
ReplyDeleteThank you Al!
DeletePurrrrrr-fect all around Anne!
ReplyDeleteThank you Paul!
DeleteStunning, Superb very nicely done Anne.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrew!
DeleteWow, Anne, you've done a great jump forward with your painting skills since the last time I checked back here (I must admit that it was a rather long time. I'll try do do better...)
ReplyDeleteThat captain looks lovely! Great job!
Thank you Mojo. Now if only I could paint faster.
DeleteSame here :D
DeleteI'm such a slow painter and modellmaker, it hurts :D
Her Royal Highness looks stunning! I love her pink top the best!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are having the best time doing a side story with Orlin and HRH, I can't wait to read them both.
I hope you slept well.
Oh, AND, I love your new banner!!
DeleteI love it too!
DeleteThese figures are so expensive and take so much time to paint, some of them have to do double duty! These two will be fun to play with and that fetid feline the Cat's ego will grow even bigger. I'm screwed, totally screwed.
Deleteha ha ha!! The Cat's ego is so easily stroked, it takes nothing to make it much larger than it already is! That is the wonderful part of your hobby, although it costs a bit at the start up, you can enjoy it for quite some time while spinning the tale (or tales) (or tails in Orlin's case) in your head while your paint, or better yet, let your head just clear while listening to some jazz!
DeleteVery cute. I love that pirate!
ReplyDeleteShe was hard to paint Scott!
DeleteThose really are the cats whiskers, beautiful work Anne!
ReplyDeleteThank you Francis. I like seeing you use your real name on here. You know which picture I'd like you to use as your avi? Ray has one of you smiling and I really wish you would use that one as I like to see you happy even though it goes against your nature!
DeleteYay for the pirate cats! They shall watch out for Canadian Mounted Bear Police!
ReplyDeleteI wish they made a Mounted Bear Police, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
Deletewell i hope you sleep well...i like your HRH figure...def digging the colors...very cool...and love the new header as well...ha...
ReplyDeleteThank you Brian. I've never worked with these colours before and it took a long time to get them right.
DeleteWonderful work here Anne. Beautiful cat!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rodger!
DeleteGood one Anne. That's a fun mini and you made her look great. Mmmm. Maple syrup.
ReplyDeleteI was just dreaming about pancakes.....
DeleteA pirate cat? That's pretty damn awesome. I'm sure that HRH could easily manipulate, or simply eliminate Orlin, "Eternal King" or not.
ReplyDeleteShe will have him wrapped around her paw before this story is done!
DeleteNice colours Anne, you'll be entering the Painting Challenge before you know it!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to enter next year. My goal will have to be modest though as I'm so slow. She took me two weeks to finish!
DeleteYou'll get quicker the more you do, but its hard to believe you've only been painting for a short while, the figure's great! Keep it up!
DeleteThat figure looks incredibly complicated. There's a lot of detail you had to pay attention to and you did great. Also, I like the header.
ReplyDeleteShe was a real challenge to paint. I have a Wizard coming up that took me as long as this one did. He was a real bitch to get right.
DeleteWow, some great choices of figures and you did a masterful job painting them.
ReplyDeleteI really like Dark Sword's Critter collection. I've a Mouse Knight to do for this story and I have three of their frogs as well. I'm not a good enough painter yet to do the frogs. Maybe in a few months I'll tackle them.
DeleteHRH is a long time friend of my penguins, coons and possums. We might lend her a paw or a claw in invading Canada.
ReplyDeleteI do like Debra and the adventures of HRH. She did so well in the Olympics this year past didn't she. I hope she's out of that Russian prison soon!
DeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura!
DeleteHer Royal Highness looks awesome. I love that red eyepatch. Almost makes me want to lose an eye. Almost.
ReplyDeleteShe hasn't lost an eye. She wears the eyepatch because it makes her look sexy and dangerous.
DeleteGreat stuff, you seem to be getting better at this. They look really good. I like cats.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bama!
DeleteBrilliant lovely paintjob they are getting better and better Anne. Your right 15mm certainly is a challenge to paint!
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to get a handle on 15mm. Photographing them is a real tough thing too. Ian sent me some 6mm figures and they scare me!
DeleteWhat a magnificent job you've done, Anne! You have captured HRH perfectly. I love the brilliant colours you have chosen for her. And yes, HRH likes the Bad Boys a lot, so King Orlin would be right up her alley (so to speak).
ReplyDeleteNow that she has her own pirate ship, she'll never be home! Roaming the world for adventure, love and booty suits her to a tee.
She was a real challenge to paint. The colour palette was a new one for me and I'm glad I chose it. HRH is such a magnificent creature, she deserves only the best. Is she still stuck in Russia?
DeleteOh no, she made it home again safe and sound. She DID steal a painting from the Hermitage though -- check it out, it's a masterpiece! See my December 6th post for all the details.
DeleteHahahaha. I'm so glad that she made it home. See she has the spirit of the Pirate in her. Looting a museum is a skill not too many Pirates possess!
DeleteAmazing Anne like this cat !! Congratulation
ReplyDeleteSlainte!
Thank you Vincent. When will you be done with the Samurai?
DeleteSlainte!
Hello Anne i start the work friday ;)
DeleteCheers
I will check in on the days I'm not blogging as I don't want to miss it.
DeleteSorry, I forgot to add: Arrr!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about this! Anne, may I repost your photos of the HRH miniature on my blog later this week? I want everyone to see her piratical awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteOf course you can repost them. And you can make up any story you'd like to about her adventures on the high seas!!
DeleteAwesome Catpirate! your painting skill is more and more good! Do you intend to stop improvement or not?
ReplyDeleteI'm really jealous, Dear Gal'Anne'O'Driel!
I hope to keep improving by painting more difficult pieces. I just overcame a crisis in my ability to paint at all with this and one other figure!
DeleteOOOOOHHHHH, purple is my favorite color. LOVE that jacket!!!
ReplyDeleteVery well painted. I will say that you have a distinct style of your own, and I meant that in a good way ;-)
ReplyDeleteOh also had a VERY kind gift from a friend today. I will be posting about it later but believe me when I say I am happy.
Ian
Thank you Ian. I'm trying out some different colour palettes right now and painting some really different figures for me.
DeleteThe 6mm you sent me are taunting me!
Very nice detail work on those figures!
ReplyDeleteYAY CANADA! And I am in desperate need of a Maple Syrup infusion or restock at the very least! Great job on the painting of these 2 models. Like the pirate cat the most, but can't speak ill of the King of Canada neither!
ReplyDeleteHe was important for me because I had to learn to paint white and he took me a long time to finish. With her I needed to learn how to use purple and after 2 weeks, I finally go it!
DeletePfft the cat will just poke out her other eye and then Canada will never be taken from this guy. No one can win as I have plenty of godly gas at my bin haha awesome job on her though, should be great to see the story unfold.
ReplyDeleteYou're immortal Cat and the Eternal King of Canada. The crown will remain securely on your head. She's a pretty thing, admit it.
DeleteThat she is indeed, but the cat will never conceed, the viking woman might get upset haha
DeleteOne day, when I can afford to buy more figures, I'm going to buy that Viking Woman character. It will make me sick to paint her, but I'll do it anyway.
DeleteNicely painted Cat with extra nicely painted multi-colored feathers, and a brief glimpse of the character's history. Well done again, Anne! May I turn the page now?
ReplyDeleteI will have more on Wednesday, unless something dreadful happens!
DeleteI'm not sure that filthy feline, Orlin is worthy of HRH!
ReplyDeleteI hope HRH defeats that damn cat and brings peace to all of Canada!
No he's not worthy at all. But she won't win the crown from him as he is immortal and will rule Canada for eternity. I know I'm and idiot as I could write this a different way, but it works better with him as Eternal King.
DeleteThat's the beauty of being the author behind the story...you can make things how you see fit. But you know, maybe you could at least have something terrible happen to the Eternal King! Mwahaha!
DeleteForgot to mention...love the banner!
People will know he's evil, I'll make sure of that. But he won't die in the story. I'm the character that dies in the story! I get to kill myself in my own story-now that's power!
DeleteLovely choice of colours for the puss and I love your new banner!! Don´t ever change it!
ReplyDeleteCheers
paul
I think I'm in love with HRH and a little jealous of Cat in all honesty haha. Great post Anne, I'm with you on the days getting brighter too in reference to your lovely comment on my post. Each day we fight through gets us closer and closer to salvation and that awesome day of a brightened night, it's giving me a thrill just thinking about it in all seriousness.
ReplyDeleteA lovely mate for Puss in Boots!
ReplyDeleteI love the new figure! She's great!
ReplyDeleteA fantastic looking pirate, I'm already seeing him crossing the seas (with its female crew, don't forget), seeking treasures, and sinking dog-boats...great work Anne!
ReplyDeletePhil.
Wonderful painting, I'm spechless. I'm happy, because now I have a good painting guide for the pirate cat. I have this figure here with me and thinking the whole time how I shall paint her. Now I know it. Thanks Anne.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Bruno
You have done a fabulous job! And if I know anything about HRH, I'm sure she's quite pleased with the likeness - especially her jaunty red brassiere, lol!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous shade of purple! A stunning piece of work Anne.
ReplyDeleteOh your blog is lovely, I can't believe I've only just found it. The stories and the characters are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat is exceptionally good painting. I am looking both of them in awe. The cat is simply terrific!!Well done sweet Anne. And you're Irish, you simply don't give up. :) Never forget that. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you my dear Thanos. No we Irish don't give up, if we did, we'd never have become a free country. It's bred into us to keep on going no matter what the odds are :)
DeleteWork on the cat's eyes is pretty hot. I like the hobbity-hole graphic too.
ReplyDeleteAhhh Anne! It's too short! Here I am getting into it and right then it ends, it's not fair..
ReplyDeleteNothing will go wrong before Friday, you watch!
Wonderful painting...
ReplyDeleteI love the combination of your stories and painted miniatures. You bring those little ones to life in a very fun way. I hope HRH will get her Canadian maple syrup. It really is to die for.
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
I so rarely see cats wearing pink bras.
ReplyDeletevery nice work. she is a fierce looking kitty

Kike
Anne, she is terrific! I don't think I would change a thing.
ReplyDeleteI love me the maple syrup. Have to drown my pancakes in it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love, love these statues and their stories. You always make me smile when I stop by here.
I am catching up. The cat looks really beautiful - the colour scheme is right down my alley.
ReplyDeleteDid it come with grass or did you add that? In any case it looks amazing the base and the figure. Super improvement!
I thought that crew would first pick me up before they sail to Canada! Lovely painted cat!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
