This is my fourth post for the month of October and I know that's a bit of overkill for me, but I thought I'd really push my blogging skills to the limit here.
This little guy is a 20mm sculpt from Dark Sword and he's going to be making an appearance along with a couple of his mates in my story "They Wyrm of Connemara"
His name is Naz T. Habit, a name loaned to me by The Laughing Ferret. Now there's a reason for that, but as much as I'd like to share it with you, I can't because it's Top Secret.
The base won't be painted until I put him in the terrain I'm building. In the background you can see the mushrooms I sculpted and I think they'll go well with him. I've also sculpted an oversized flower with a face to go into the scenery and I just need to paint it.
I've gotten 11 figures off the painting table this month and for me that's a record number. I'll be getting them posted as my life permits and will begin working in earnest on terrain shortly.
I'd like to take a moment and give my best wishes to those who are living on the East Coast of the United States as they prepare for Hurricane Sandy to make her arrival. May you all be well as the storm passes.

I really like you paint arts A,, I love it...
ReplyDeleteThank you Danny!
DeleteGreat job Anne, I love the textures that you've achieved on this wonderful looking and characterful miniature; so inspired I'm off to the work bench!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael. It's how I'm going to be spending the rest of my day!
DeleteReally nice and funny miniature , very beautify colors .
ReplyDeleteThank you Vincent-he's two friends that go with him and I'll post them shortly.
DeleteGreat painting Anne! Love the look of the cloak, the folds look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rodger. It's taken me a long time to get my drybrushing up to par. It's finally getting better.
DeleteNice one, the background too. Rabbits have bad habits.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andrew!
DeleteNice mini and paintjob Anne. Whats the secret then.......go on you know you want to tell us
ReplyDeleteThank you Brummie and I won't be giving up the secret anytime soon!
DeleteI think you've done a wonderful job with the figure, I love the name and really can't wait to hear the story behind it as well as the story you're writing in general.
ReplyDeleteThe Ferret came up with the name and he's kindly letting me use it for the characters that go with his in my story.
DeleteI've heard reports of people in the Carribean not making it through the storm so yes, all my thoughts are with the people on the east coast. The figure looks great, and it's always nice to have you pop in for a visit :)
ReplyDeleteI've got two friends on the coast and my Aunty Bridie lives in Connecticut, she evacuated on Saturday so she's fine. Thank you Mark!
DeleteWhat an excellent figure, wonder how he's gonna figure in the story? And for gods sake don't eat them dodgy looking mushrooms in the background, you'll be on the bog for a week!!!
ReplyDeleteHe and his mates and the Ferret's character play an important and surprising pivotal role in the story so it's still hush hush. I don't fancy having the sammy squirts so I'll not be eating those shrooms!
DeleteTá tú ag fear álainn Ray!
Hola Amiga
ReplyDeleteUna figura muy bonitame gusta el tono de la piel, esos morados y demas
Espero que la historia que hay detras no la cuentes jajaja.
UN SALUDO
Gracias,
DeleteMe gusta demasiado
Slainte!
It looks as this is going to be a very colourfull diorama! I'm looking forward to the next steps of this project!
ReplyDeleteNaz is very good painted!
Greetings
Peter

Thank you Peter!
DeleteThanks for the well wishes ! I must say your work is better with every mini !! Excellent work !
ReplyDeleteI really hope the storm isn't as bad as they're saying it will be.
DeleteThank you!
What a badass little figure. He looks great, especially against that mushroom backdrop. Now, where is he going to fit into the story...?
ReplyDeleteThat shall remain a secret until the appropriate time!
DeleteI like the staff. Good work as always. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Bama xoxo
DeleteThe bag is cool. Lots of subtle shading in there.
ReplyDeleteI've really been trying to improve my paint skills. It's improving but far too slowly to make me happy.
DeleteTo echo previous comments, great looking cloak and mini all round
ReplyDeleteIan
Thank you Ian! The other two figures that came with him are pretty cool as well and I'll be posting them shortly as they're painted up and ready to photograph.
DeleteNaz T. Habit has some beautiful detail work! Love the shrooms too.
ReplyDeleteDark Sword hires some of the best sculptors in the world and to get this much detail onto something so small is no small feat. I love that company.
DeleteWow 4 in one month, you are on a roll with posts haha And that is a great name too. He better not mess with the cat god or he'll get smited too. I bet he's been indulging in those mushrooms as well.
ReplyDeleteI know 4 in one month is a bit excessive isn't it. I might even do one more before the month is out just to shock people!
DeleteThe name came from the Ferret. He's got the coolest names for the players in his Bloodbowl teams. The man's a feckin genius.
Pfft genuis still pales to a god, never letting that go hahaha
DeleteYeah you might pull off five. How will old one eye ever get out alive.
There's two more days in this month-I might surprise you. And whose to say there's not two gods in my story.
DeleteI hope she can get out, Jesus that water is high.
Please slow down with the posts, it's hard for me to keep up =P
ReplyDeleteYour detail work is shining through on this figure, Anne. I would ask if he could walk beside me because he has a cool staff but with that name I'm not sure it's a wise request.
Thanks for the prayers and my prayers go out to those further up north from me.
did Sandy leave your area, Elsie?
DeleteI'm telling you it was difficult to do. The guys that do these sculpts with this much detail at this scale are so very, very talented. I all but worship the ground they walk on. I only hope to do justice to their fine work.
DeleteIt's so good to know you still have power. Stay well my friend!
@Dezz she's a slow moving storm, so I'm not sure if she's gone from our Elsie's area yet. I'll have to check the weather pages to find out.
hope Sandy won't be a nasty witch but a well behaved lady :(
ReplyDeleteThe figure looks very wise and powerful, Anzzie and I'd make a lovely soup out of your shrooms :)
I'm worried for our Elsie and her family darling. I'll try very hard to get a good enough pic of your figure today. I took over 50 shots of him and none do him justice. By hook or by crook I'm getting him posted this week.
DeleteRemember that he has a dark twin and I need you to pick a name for him.
well, Dezzdemon of course :)
DeleteMaybe you should put the light one floating eternally on some cloud or something :) You know me hates to walk :) I'd like to float on a puff of air :)
I shall have your penguins carry you darling lest your feet become dirty from the ground.
DeleteNice work Anne. I like the shrooms too.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've got to paint up that flower I sculpted and post it as well.
DeleteNice painting, Anne. Your harmonious palette demonstrates that you have a planned composition, and that you are sticking to it (excellent IMO). Keep the rinse water clean, the brush pointed, and the paint stirred, Paintress.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jay, I do so love painting and I found out that even when I wasn't posting the figures, my love for the work was not diminished. That was an important lesson to learn for me.
DeleteI'll be painting the rest of the day kind Sir!
He looks great Anne. I see improvement with every mini you paint. And getting 11 miniatures done in a month is nothing to sneeze at there are plenty of painters that don't get that many done in a month. Although pay no attention to Ray and Fran since they mostly paint those very unmanly 15mm minis. Oh and never paint red mushrooms with white spots, those are the worst.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kris. Everyone else seems to be able to paint 5-20 miniatures in a day and I'm slow by comparison.
DeleteRay's been painting some larger figures recently though and some zeds as well. I'm not speaking to Francis at the moment so I won't even mention his name.
Top secret mission, now I am all the more intrigued. Wonderful figurine Anne and I love the background - mushrooms and colors and lovely scenery.
ReplyDeleteGood to read from you and hope you are having rocking time with your jazz band adventure.
Hope I dont hear anything bad about Sandy either, nature had cruel ways to prove its existence and demand attention.
Mother Nature can be cruel at time as she cares nothing for humans. She kills indiscriminately and with no care for the lives she takes. I've never understood why people worship her.
DeleteIt's good to see you back and I truly hope things are getting better for you. I've been worried for you my friend!
Naz T...he could have a wife called Nor T...;-D
ReplyDeleteGreat highlighting on the cloak!
Cheers
paul
That's a clever one Paul! And thank you!
DeleteHe's a cute little thing! But the name, hehehe
ReplyDeleteI've just started painting monsters and the skin tones are really difficult. I've got this lizard monster that goes with him and that one was a real bitch to do.
DeleteThe name is cool isn't it. Credit goes to the Ferret on that though!
Very Yoda! I like it!
ReplyDeleteHe does look a bit yodaish. I hadn't noticed. Thank you Andrew.
DeleteYou went from start to 10! What a progress!!!
ReplyDeleteI feel very proud that I have the chance to see how your talent evolves. Well done Anne!!! :)
It's hard for me to believe that I'm actually doing all these figures now. The first one I did turned out so very badly.
DeleteThank you Thanos, you're ever the kind friend.
He's great, I love his purple skin! Welcome to the world Nas T. Habit!
ReplyDeleteBloody hell Ferret, I put a z in his name. People love the name. Just wait till they see what that goat turns into!
DeleteI only misspelled one word? Count yourself lucky: I know I do ;) He must be a goblinish sort-they always use z instead of s.
DeleteI love the colours you use in painting for figures and love the way these are mirrors in the photos themselves, great stuff
ReplyDeleteThank you PK! I love color almost as much as I love Scotsman in kilts!
DeleteI'm sorry, Anne that I did had time to visit your blog since many time!
ReplyDeleteI think that I've missed too much works!
This one is a marvellous figure and the painting work you've made is beautiful: I'm really jealous of your progress in the Art, because after 2 years, I didn't jump so much steps as you!
I'm speechless....
You probably haven't missed much Pascal. I've barely posted this month and it's certainly nice to see you here now.
DeleteThank you!
Beautiful work and photography, Anne. As Sam, I apologize for not frequenting your blog more often. Warm regards, Dean
ReplyDeleteThat's okay Dean, I've not posted much in almost a month. Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteNice work Anne, reminds me a of a purple Yoda! I love the little world you are creating with your multi-coloured mushrooms. Very cute! Looking forward to more of your work.
ReplyDeleteRegards
Scott
Thank you Scott. I'll be posting again more often as I'm less busy and finally have things painted up to post!
DeleteNice post. Back atcha!
ReplyDeleteGet that story going! Losing patience!
Sandy just needs to get the hell out of Dodge already!
Hold your horses WorkqueenDan. I'm doing a little more than throwing words on a page here. I've got over 30 very detailed, very tiny figures to paint and all the terrain to build from scratch. The story is written, that's easy-the rest takes time-lots of time.
DeleteJust teasing you Anne! I know you're busy! But you did (and I'm hoping in a joking manner) drop a "nice post" on my blog! It was because I was picking on Elsie, wasn't it?
DeleteI can imagine how long it takes to do all that painting. Here I am thinking the MSPaint takes time...pfft! The detail work you are doing must be painfully slow!
I was just teasing you Dan. You and that horrid Cat pick on my Elsie and I love her like a sister so it's my duty to give you shit! And it's fun as well.
DeleteThe Cat is threatening to eviscerate you on his post Thursday-join the club my friend, join the club!
I better get my counter post ready then! that damn cat! He's gonna fry!
DeleteI love it!! (I really love mine too!!) I can not WAIT to see more!
ReplyDeleteAnd Sandy is being kind of a bitch around here. The wind is insane...I am waiting for it to take the puppy away. For real.
Excellent figure Anne, you've turned into a right talented little painter!
ReplyDeleteLovely work as always Anne :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice miniatures, and very colourful terrain!
ReplyDeleteNicely done Anne! Super paintwork.
ReplyDeleteSORRY FOR THE LATE COMMENT! I love to say how wonderful this set up is, the colours are excellent and the background suits this little fella well. unfortunately for me I have just had a flu filled week that has allowed for another bacterial infection filled week to take place. so here I am off school worried now that I will miss prizegiving the most important event of the year and thinking to myself; why now???
ReplyDeleteso as you can imagine I have just managed to get off the couch go to the doctor and now found the computer, so I am here to make a comment. sorry it is late but under the circumstances I am sure you can understand
No need to feel apologize Gowan. You have to take care of yourself first, that's more important than blogger. I hope the doctor prescribed something that will knock that infection out toot sweet so you can get back to school.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself and get well soon!!
For some reasons I did not see nay of your posts! I love this little one, looks so colourful with the mushrooms.
